Forecasters say we can look forward to a muggy summer with lots of rain to bring out the bugs. Time to get your auto air service done now before summer arrives.
The latest Accuweather prediction for this summer for the New Orleans area and other places along the Gulf Coast is out. And, not surprisingly, it’s going to be muggy. On the other hand, it might not be as extremely hot as it could have been because of all the rain that’s expected. That, AccuWeather.com forecaster Paul Pastelok says, translates into bugs. Lots of bugs.
“I would consider stocking up on the bug spray this year down across the Tennessee Valley and the Gulf Coast because it looks very wet,” Pastelok said.
Oh, joy. Muggy and buggy.
The muggy part of that prediction makes it especially important that you have your car ready for summer.
“Summer's heat, dust, and stop-and-go traffic, will take their toll on your vehicle. Add the effects of last winter, and you could be poised for a breakdown,” the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence says. “You can lessen the odds of mechanical failure through periodic maintenance...Your vehicle should last longer and command a higher resale price, too!”
It almost goes without saying that summer prep should include an oil change. But there are other systems you need to have checked by a reliable auto mechanic like those at Twin Tire and Auto Care –your auto air conditioning and cooling systems to name just two.
“A marginally operating [a/c] system will fail in hot weather,” ase.com says. It adds, “The greatest cause of summer breakdowns is overheating. The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically.”
Of course, if you’re in the greater New Orleans, Ponchatoula, Gretna area, the place to have that auto air service done (and any auto air repair that’s needed) is Twin Tire and Auto Care. Twin Tire has had the trusted tire service and car repair experts since 1973. We have three convenient locations – Hammond, Marrero and Harvey – for cars and light trucks.
