Hot Times on the Weekend | Auto Air

Go out and have fun in the hot sunshine, but be sure your auto air is working so you can cool down afterward.

It’s supposed to be hot this weekend and things will be even hotter at the Cajun Zydeco Festival. What better after a day of music, crawfish, catfish and other delights than to climb into your car, turn on the auto air conditioning and aaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Well, unless you’re a/c is broken, that is. Then, at best, you’ll get warm air blowing on you. At worst, you’ll be in a stifling hot car that’s been sitting in the sun all day. Getting hot. Just for you. There’s not much worse in the hot New Orleans summer than a broken car air conditioner. It’s not only uncomfortable, it’s not safe.

AAA explains: “Maintaining a comfortable driving environment reduces fatigue, which can play an important part in driver alertness and vehicle safety. During extreme summer heat, a properly operating air conditioning system can be more than just a pleasant convenience.”

That’s one reason AAA recommends you get auto air service done before the REALLY hot weather sets in. Auto air service should include a check of the filter to make sure it’s functioning, too. If you find a problem with the a/c or the filter, be sure to get it repaired.

The easiest way, of course, to make sure your a/c is in good working order is to bring your car by Twin Tire and Auto Care. Twin Tire has been the leading car care shop for tire service and car repair (including auto air service and auto air repair) in the greater New Orleans area since it opened in 1973. Twin has three convenient locations to serve you: Hammond, Marrero and Harvey. We also have a location in Harahan for heavy, commercial vehicles.
