Before you head anywhere this Memorial Day, be sure you take your car to the New Orleans auto care experts at Twin Tire for a checkup.
It's here. Memorial Day weekend. The first three-day holiday weekend of the summer. AAA says that, despite high gas prices, more than 41.5 million Americans will kick off the summer by traveling this weekend. The majority of those - about 36.6 million - will go by car. The travel is fueled in part by lower hotel and other costs that offset the higher gas prices.
The downside for many travelers: AAA expects to rescue more than 340,000 motorists at the roadside this Memorial Day weekend. Dead batteries, lockouts and flat tires will be the leading reasons AAA members will experience car trouble.
Of course, car trouble can strike anywhere, on the road or even while you're at home enjoying one of the many Memorial Day events in New Orleans.
You can avoid that trouble by following AAA's advice: Before hitting the road, make sure your vehicle is road-trip ready. Make a good B-E-T to stay on the road this summer by having your Battery tested, looking for Engine coolant leaks and checking Tire condition. Be prepared for emergencies with a mobile phone and car charger, a flashlight with extra batteries, a first-aid kit, a basic toolkit, and drinking water and snacks for all passengers.
